The Lamp
In the synagogue burns the everlasting flame, the ner tamid. In Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches a chancel lamp is kept burning. In a mosque, a representation of the lamp is a typical feature of the decoration of the mihrab, or prayer niche.
May the light ever shine, guiding our way toward a future where all people live together.
