I am pleased to provide my clients with unique and artistic calligraphic work in the Devanagari script and other South Asian writing systems. The Devanagari Script is one of many closely related South Asian alphabets and is used to write Sanskrit, Hindi, Marathi, Pali, Nepali and other languages. I work closely with scholars of Indian languages to provide accurate translations.
In addition to Devanagari I can provide work in additional historic and contemporary South Asian scripts including Gujarati, Punjabi, Gurmukhi, Tibetan, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Sinhala. See here for a complete list.

Devanagari script is immediately identifiable due to the crossbar that runs across the top of each word. While there is the no bar “headless” or “crown” style, more often than not Devanagari offers me the creative options of the crossbar unique to this script.
Devanagari usually marches across the page in perfectly straight lines, but I have delighted in freeing it from these constraints. In my work the Devanagari crossbar slopes, curves or sweeps into a full circle; the letters and lines overlap. I often compare calligraphy to music, and in this case the vertical lines of the individual letters provide a steady beat, the curves of the crossbars are an overarching melody and the smaller curves of the letters and the vowel markings add spark and counterpoint to the composition.
