Each certificate is a completely custom design, created to match
the wishes and desires of the couple. The highest quality archival
inks, colours and paper are used to create a long lasting family
heirloom.
I work with you to bring together a design that incorporates
elements important to your specific tradition and your personal
tastes. Marriage certificates are an important part of many
religious and cultural traditions, and can be adapted to fit your
circumstances.
Quaker certificates are the legally binding document that unites
a couple in the tradition of the Religious Society of Friends. The
certificate is typically done by hand in simple calligraphy and
includes space for all those present at the ceremony to sign as
witnesses. When I resided in Pennsylvania I was one of the
official calligraphers recommended by the Philadelphia Yearly
Meeting.
The Jewish Ketubah is an ancient tradition that enjoys wide
popularity today in both traditional and contemporary designs. I
have created bilingual and trilingual ketubim, complete with full
colour illustration, for many clients.
My familiarity with Arabic, Persian and Urdu scripts as well as a
mastery of traditional Islamic designs has allowed me the
privilege of creating traditional and contemporary Muslim
marriage contracts. These can be created in any combination of
languages and scripts, as well as choice of design elements and
colours. The inclusion of poetry from Rumi and others has proved
to be very popular.
Many people bring together elements from many traditions to
celebrate their union, marriage or handfasting. A specially
created certificate is the perfect way to remember the special
occasion.
Many people ask for a design that brings together elements that
are special to the couple, including mountains, rivers, animals,
seascapes, and many other reminders of special places. After
looking over all the many ideas, images and photos offered by
the couple, I create a unique artistic design to illuminate the
edges of the certificate.
Other certificates have been based on a specific design style,
including Celtic Knotwork, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Floral
Arrangements, and so on.
