Amharic to Tibetan, I can provide work in quite a few world scripts. Read more below the image gallery.

Most of the work I do is in the Latin, Arabic, Devanagari, Hebrew and Chinese writing systems. However, I can also provide work in a number of other scripts. Both ancient and modern Greek share the same alphabet. As luck would have it, my very first paid calligraphy commission was to write out the menu in Greek for a Taverna during a visit to Athens.  Avestan is the ancient alphabet used for writing Zoroastrian scripture. Amharic is another ancient script and the major alphabet in use in modern Ethiopia. I learned this script when I was co-owner of Nyala Ethiopian Restaurant in Philadelphia.

While quite different in appearance, a great many alphabets share a common origin. This includes Amharic, Devanagari, Gurmukhi, Gujarati, Pali, Tibetan, Thai, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam.  I have fulfilled commissions in all of these alphabets. I learned Kannada and the related Telegu alphabet while living in Bangalore, India. I designed a series of book covers in Kannada and trained secondary school students in Kannada and English calligraphy as part of professional training in graphic design.

If you have an interest in commissioning work in the contemporary or historical script from anywhere in the world, please contact me. I will be glad to let you know if I have familiarity with the calligraphic traditions of the script.
